Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 August 2026
Cedar Estates ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information when you visit our website, contact us, or subscribe to our updates.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
1. What personal information we collect
We keep our data collection deliberately minimal. Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
Information you give us directly
-
Your name, email address and phone number when you email us or use a contact form
-
The content of your enquiry — for example, the type of property you're looking for, the suburb you're interested in, or details about a property you're thinking of selling
-
Your email address when you subscribe to our property listings and market updates
Information collected automatically when you use our website
-
Your IP address, browser type and device information
-
Pages you visited, how you arrived at our site, and how long you stayed
-
Cookie data (see section 6)
We do not ask for or require sensitive information as defined by the Privacy Act. Please don't send us identity documents, financial details or health information by email.
2. How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you when you email us, complete a form on our website, subscribe to our updates, or speak with us in person or by phone.
We may also collect information from third parties where you have consented or would reasonably expect it — for example, if you enquire about one of our listings through a property portal such as realestate.com.au or Domain, that portal will pass your enquiry details on to us.
3. Why we collect and use it
We use personal information to:
-
Respond to your enquiry and provide the services you've asked for
-
Send you property listings, market updates and news if you've subscribed
-
Keep you informed about properties that may suit what you've told us you're looking for
-
Improve our website and understand how visitors use it
-
Meet our legal and regulatory obligations
If you don't provide the information we ask for, we may not be able to respond to your enquiry or assist you.
4. Direct marketing and how to opt out
If you subscribe to our updates, or if you enquire with us and would reasonably expect to hear from us about similar properties, we may send you marketing communications by email.
Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also opt out at any time by emailing hello@cedarestates.com.au with "Unsubscribe" in the subject line. We'll action your request promptly, and in any case within the timeframes required by the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
Opting out of marketing won't stop us from contacting you about a specific enquiry or transaction you've asked us to help with.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not trade or rent our mailing list.
We may disclose personal information to:
-
Service providers who help us run our business — including our website platform, email and marketing tools, and cloud storage providers — who are only permitted to use it to provide those services to us
-
Other parties involved in a transaction you're part of, where relevant and with your knowledge — for example conveyancers, solicitors, building and pest inspectors, or a vendor considering your offer
-
Anyone you've authorised us to share it with
-
Government agencies, regulators, courts or law enforcement, where we're required or permitted to do so by law
6. Cookies and website analytics
Our website uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — to make the site work properly and to help us understand how it's being used.
We use:
-
Essential cookies, which are required for the site to function
-
Analytics cookies, which tell us things like which pages are most popular and how visitors move through the site, in aggregate
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you do, some parts of the site may not work as intended.
Our website is built and hosted on the Wix platform, which sets its own cookies. You can read more in Wix's privacy policy.
7. Overseas disclosure
Some of the service providers we rely on — including our website host and email platform — store data on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union.
Where we disclose personal information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
8. How we keep it secure
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. This includes password protection, restricted access, and using reputable platforms with their own security measures.
No method of transmitting information over the internet is completely secure. While we do our best to protect your information, we can't guarantee the security of anything you send us online.
9. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or for as long as we're required to keep it by law. When it's no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or de-identify it.
10. Accessing and correcting your information
You have the right to ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it if it's inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or misleading.
To make a request, email hello@cedarestates.com.au. We'll respond within a reasonable period, usually within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first. There's no charge for making a request, though we may charge a reasonable fee to cover our costs in some circumstances — we'll always tell you before we do.
If we refuse a request, we'll explain why in writing and tell you how to complain about that decision.
11. Making a complaint
If you think we've mishandled your personal information or breached the Australian Privacy Principles, please tell us first so we have a chance to put it right.
Email hello@cedarestates.com.au with the details of your complaint. We'll acknowledge it, investigate, and respond to you in writing — usually within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with our response, or you don't hear back from us within 30 days, you can take your complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):

Website: oaic.gov.au
-
Phone: 1300 363 992

Our website may link to third-party sites, including property portals and social media. We're not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing them with personal information.
13. Children's privacy
Our website and services are directed at adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe we've inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us and we'll delete it.
14. Changes to this policy
